TWG 7 Meeting held

The 7th meeting of the WACDEP Technical Working Group (TWG) was held on 28th July, 2015 at the Water Resources Commission (WRC) conference room. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Ben Ampomah, Executive Secretary of WRC. The meeting considered the progress made so far with WACDEP implementation, challenges faced and the way forward to enhance efficiency in the project management. The draft 2015 Semi Annual Report was also discussed and approved during the meeting.  Also present at the meeting was the newly appointed Chairman of the GWP-WA Technical Committee, Dr. Yaw Opoku-Ankomah.

Participation in the 51st NLLAP 

The Communications Officer, Miss Irene Ofosu-Ennin, participated in the 51st National Level Learning Alliance Platform (NLLAP) on behalf of CWP-Ghana. This meeting was held at Erata Hotel on 30th July, 2015.

The meeting was organised by the Resource Center Network (RCN) in collaboration with Water Resources Commission (WRC) and the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing (MWRWH). 

The discussion centered on Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) systems and their economic, social and environmental sustainability while addressing related challenges and avenues for upscaling roof RWH in Ghana. The programme was chaired by Dr. Godfred Frimpong, the Deputy Director of CSIR-STEPRI and attended by stakeholders in the water and related sectors including civil society, public institutions and the private sector.

Interaction with GIDA representative

The Project Manager, Mr Maxwell Boateng-Gyimah met twice with the representative of Ghana Irrigation Development Agency (GIDA) on the WACDEP TWG. The meetings discussed among other things, the way forward and next steps to the Project preparation and financing aspect of WACDEP under Work Package 4. The Agency has officially communicated to WACDEP project management unit, its willingness to collaborate with key partners to implement the work package 4.

 

Submission of report on Investment Plan for the White Volta Basin

The lead consultant for the study on Investment plan preparation for the White Volta Basin (WVB) submitted the draft report to the Project Manager. This was done after he incorporated the comments and suggestions made by the stakeholders. Now, the report is split into two parts notably the (Background Technical document) and (ii) Investment Objectives Report.  The Project Manager is interacting with the Executive Secretary of the Water Resources Commission and the Basin Officer of the WVB towards the validation of the documents.
