The aim of Stage 1 of the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme is to strengthen IWRM monitoring and reporting nationally. Through Stage 1, the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme engages with countries to foster a stakeholder-inclusive reporting process around SDG indicator 6.5.1 by convening workshops or consultations to collect relevant country data on the degree of implementation of IWRM. This process strengthens SDG 6.5 national monitoring and reporting frameworks by identifying critical areas for attention. The identified opportunities and challenges can then be built upon in Stage 2 of the Support Programme, or through other country-specific means of progressing towards the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
