Our results in Stage 1

Since 2017, the Support Programme has assisted 86 countries in convening multi-stakeholder consultation workshops to report to UNEP as the custodian agency of SDG 6.5.1 on the degree of implementation of IWRM in the country. In alignment with the principles of IWRM, the workshops brought together diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, private sector representatives, international organisations and civil society organizations. Participants discussed the status of water resources management in-country and filled in the official SDG 6.5.1 in a collaborative manner.

To date, the support translates into three reporting rounds on SDG indicator 6.5.1, in 2017/2018, 2020 and 2023. Our commitment is ongoing and the data from the last round data collection in 2023 can be accessed on the IWRM Data Portal.
