Action 1 - Development of Water Management Master Plans in priority sub-basins

In 2019, under the leadership of Cameroon Ministry of Water and Energy and with the technical support of GWP Central Africa, stakeholders from national government agencies, development partners, NGOs, civil society, and the private sector came together to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Cameroon. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to develop river basins management plans in priority sub-basins. The development and dissemination of such plans would be the ending point of a process that includes supporting the creation of basin committees, carrying out an analysis of existing development plans and projects in concerned municipalities, defining the specific objectives for the use, development, and protection of the natural resources of the relevant basins, and drafting a proposal for a set of investment programs and pilot projects in accordance with the plans’ goals.
