Action 3 – Align territorial-level conservation initiatives with IWRM elements

In 2021, with the lead of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity (GRUN) and with the technical support of GWP Central America through the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, a wide number of public-private actors in the water sector worked together to define appropriate and strategic responses for advancing in IWRM. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action included in the action plan.

The purpose of this action is to create a synergy between the distinctive aspects of IWRM and environmental territorial conservation initiatives, with a special focus on the water sector by assessing the vulnerable ecosystems and creating and/or updating a number of management plans for protected areas, especially  where they are lacking.
