Action 7 - Strengthen women's leadership in IWRM at the community level

In 2021, with the lead of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity (GRUN) and with the technical support of GWP Central America through the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, a wide number of public-private actors in the water sector worked together to define appropriate and strategic responses for advancing in IWRM. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action included in the action plan.

The purpose of this action is to improve women's leadership in IWRM at the local level by including them in technical trainings on water, sanitation and IWRM issues. Additionally, it is suggested to use a gender approach in regulations for the establishment and the operation of basin committees, in management plans and in CAPs.
