In 2021, under the leadership of the Ministry of Environment and with the technical and financial support of GWP Central America, a number of consultation workshops were organised with the participation of stakeholders from the public sector, civil society, the private sector, academia, international cooperation and water sector authorities. As a result, the IWRM Action Plan (PAGIRH) 2022-2026 was developed with the objective to implement concrete actions for advancing in IWRM in Panama. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action included in the action plan.
The purpose of this action is to set up the Panama Meteorology and Hydrology Institute, in accordance with Law N° 209 (22 April 2021), which creates the Meteorology and Hydrology Institute of Panama.
