With the support of UNDP (through the GoAL WaterS programme) and GWP, a multi-stakeholder platform was created in Armenia to work on creating an enabling environment for the Government of Armenia to promote and implement the country’s commitments to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The goal was to design long-lasting, efficient mechanisms for implementation monitoring of SDG 6 targets. The result of this process was a series of actions to improve SDG 6 capacity in the country.
This particular action focuses on improving monitoring of water use for irrigation by transferring the management of 2200 observation points to a specialized unit equipped with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. This will allow to summarise and centralise information provided through the equipment, to analyse the necessity of water metering where currently not established as well as to assess the possibility of implementing measures.
