Action 24 - Pilot project on formation of new model of basin management on the basis of IWRM principles on the example of the Balkhash-Alakol Lake basin

Between 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Country Water Partnership of Kazakhstan, brought together stakeholders from government agencies, river basin organisations, development partners, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Kazakhstan. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to foster IWRM implementation by implementing a pilot project for a new model of basin management in line with IWRM principles based on the example of the Balkhash-Alakol Lake basin.
