Kazakhstan - Institutions and Participation

Action 28 - Involvement of NGOs and water users in policy- and decision-making and the work of the commissions, working groups and other forms of participation

Between 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Country Water Partnership of Kazakhstan, brought together stakeholders from government agencies, river basin organisations, development partners, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Kazakhstan. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to foster public participation in water management by promoting the involvement of NGOs and water users in water-related policy and in decision-making processes, as well as in the work of the commissions, working groups, etc.
