Action 36 - Strengthen and improve institutions for transboundary water management, including the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea and the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia

Between 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Country Water Partnership of Kazakhstan, brought together stakeholders from government agencies, river basin organisations, development partners, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Kazakhstan. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to strengthen and improve institutions for the management of water resources at the transboundary level, including the International Fund for saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of Central Asia (ICWC).
