Action 41 - Implement automated control, accounting and monitoring systems for water resources in transboundary basins

Between 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Country Water Partnership of Kazakhstan, brought together stakeholders from government agencies, river basin organisations, development partners, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Kazakhstan. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to foster transboundary cooperation and improve transboundary data sharing by implementing automated control, accounting, and monitoring systems for water resources in transboundary basins. This would be achieved by establishing a regional information system accessible to all countries as a basis for cooperation and trust.
