Action 42 - Establish a Water and energy consortium as a practical mechanism to address problems in transboundary basins

Between 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Country Water Partnership of Kazakhstan, brought together stakeholders from government agencies, river basin organisations, development partners, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Kazakhstan. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to foster transboundary cooperation by establishing a water and energy consortium as a practical mechanism to address problems in transboundary basins such as sharing benefits and risks between up-stream and down-stream countries.
