Action 43 - Eliminate dependence of the Basin Water Organisations "Syrdarya" and "Amudarya" and the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination on the host country

Between 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Country Water Partnership of Kazakhstan, brought together stakeholders from government agencies, river basin organisations, development partners, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Kazakhstan. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

The purpose of this action is to foster transboundary cooperation by sanctioning the independence from the host country of the Basin water Organisations (BWO) “Syrdarya” and “Amudarya” and of the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (SIC ICWC).
