Kenya - Institutions and Participation

Action 2 - Opportunities for inclusion of Women and Youth

In 2019, stakeholders from national and county government agencies, civil society, academic institutions, and the private sector came together under the lead of the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Sanitation to define strategic actions for advancing on IWRM. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan.

This action has the purpose of mainstreaming participation and inclusion of women and youth in water resources management. It aims at identifying barriers and opportunities for mainstreaming gender and youth participation by focusing on designing guidelines for gender and youth inclusion in water-related decision-making and creating youth mentorship linkages and training opportunities.
