Ghana - Enabling Environment

Action 2 - Review existing IWRM Plans for the Tano and Pra Basins

In 2018, the Water Resources Commission and the Ghana Country Water Partnership, under the lead of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, brought together stakeholders from national and county government agencies, development partners, NGOs, civil society, and academia to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Ghana. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan. The purpose of this action is to enhance integrated water resource management in the Tano and Pra basin. It aims to achieve this objective by reviewing the existing IWRM Plan for the basin and updating it based on changes in the hydrological regime, projections of future water requirements, planned development projects, and lessons learned.
