Action 5 - Develop Harmonized M&E System for efficient and effective IWRM activities at the Basin level

In 2018, the Water Resources Commission and the Ghana Country Water Partnership, under the lead of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, brought together stakeholders from national and county government agencies, development partners, NGOs, civil society, and academia to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Ghana. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan. The purpose of this action is to increase the effectiveness of the implementation of river basin plans by increasing coordination among responsible institutions. It aims to reach this goal by developing a harmonised monitoring and evaluation framework across responsible institutions that is dynamic in nature and can account for wastewater, agricultural water use efficiency, gender disaggregated data, and riverine ecosystems monitoring, among other issues.
