In 2018, the Water Resources Commission and the Ghana Country Water Partnership, under the lead of the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, brought together stakeholders from national and county government agencies, development partners, NGOs, civil society, and academia to define a series of strategic actions for advancing on IWRM in Ghana. The following action was defined as part of that process and identified as a priority action to be included in an action plan. The purpose of this action is to strengthen water quality assessment and monitoring for a better understanding of the integrity of the raw water quality of water bodies in the country. It aims to achieve this goal by increasing the coverage of sampling stations across the country and improving technical capacity of the basin agencies in water quality monitoring and analysis.
