The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Global Water Partnership, The Social Innovation Park LTD and Unicorns for Good LTD on Global Water Changemakers
The 2023 United Nations Water Conference was successfully held from 22-24 March 2023. The event was held at UN Headquarters in New York, co-hosted by the Governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, aimed to assess the progress of the Water Action Decade 2018-2028 and reaffirm water-related goals and targets, including those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The mission of the Global Water Partnership to support countries in the adoption and implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular Agenda 6.5.1 to track the degree of IWRM. Thus, the global office and the regional secretariat of Southeast Asia participated in the main events, and side events (on-site and virtual events).
Every 22 March, the world celebrates World Water Day with this year theme focus on “Accelerating Change to Solve Water and Sanitation Crisis”. Since water affects us all, we have to response with immediate action, as access to clean and safe water and basic sanitation consider human rights, yet large part of the world population still does not have access to it.
The SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme assists governments in designing and implementing their responses to SDG indicator 6.5.1, the degree of implementation of IWRM, to accelerate progress towards the achievement of water-related SDGs and other development goals. This directly supports the official SDG monitoring and reporting processes, leading to measurable progress on the relevant SDG targets. The Support Programme is structured around 3 stages and offers also specific support on selected thematic priorities.
The 10th World Water Forum “Water for Shared Prosperity” Kick-Off Meeting facilitated several discussions on six topics of water management through thematic and regional processes at the Jakarta Convention Center. As the host for the 10th World Water Forum that will be held in Bali on 18-24 May 2024, the Government of Indonesia facilitated the first kick-off meeting (stakeholders consultation meeting) on 15-16 February 2023, attended by policymakers, academics, practitioners, and associations operating in and related to the water sector.
Jakarta - World Water Forum (WWF) Kick-Off Meeting was successfully held from 15-16 February 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center. This first stakeholders meeting facilitated several discussions on six topics of water management through thematic and regional processes. This event was attended by policy makers, academics, private sectors, practitioners, and associations operating in and related to the water sector.
The 1st meeting in 2023 of the Indonesia Water Coalition (IWC) was held at Pusat Suaka Satwa Elang Jawa to discuss the plan and budgeting. Carried out on 6 February 2023, the event also includes planting 9 trees as a symbol of the IWC's mission to support water conservation.
In December 2022, Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia utilized its e-survey platform for water and sanitation hygiene to assist Safe Water Gardens in increasing access to safe and proper sanitation at Busung Village, Bintan Regency. GWP-SEA’s regional coordinator, Fany Wedahuditama lead the training for the enumerators and supervisors on how to use the e-survey on their android phone.
