Youth in Botswana agree to institutionalize youth activities

The Botswana SADC Water Week was held from 28-30 April 2015 in Gaborone at the Cresta President Hotel (Journalist training and Youth Forum) and the Cresta Lodge for the consultative forum. During the youth forum, the youth agreed on setting up a structure that will implement youth activities at country level and this will be housed by the Botswana Water Partnership Secretariat.

The youth were also active participants in the RSAP IV Consultative Forum which was officially opened by the Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. T. Dedede who highlighted that Botswana is currently undergoing serious water scarcity challenges and this has seen the implementation of strategies such as the water rationing in various areas including the capital city. A number of measures are currently being put in place including the construction of a transfer scheme of water from the  north of the country,  Zambezi river basin and from Lesotho. These are long term plans and will take a few years to be completed.
