Upcoming event: Pan-Africa Water Governance and International Water Law (IWL) Training-9-12 December 2024

Join us for a transformative training designed to foster partnerships and build your expertise in transboundary water law. The 2024 Pan Africa Water Governance and International Water Law (IWL) Training which will be held on 9-12 December 2024 in Entebbe, Uganda in a hybrid format will help participants gain skills and knowledge needed to develop effective agreements and promote stronger cooperation over shared water resources across Africa.

The training has been co-organized  by the Water Convention Secretariat, UNECE, the Global Water Partnership; Water Resources Institute of the Ministry of Water and the Environment, Uganda; University of Northumbria and other partners

 The training will focus on the applicable legal rules and principles that shape how countries across Africa cooperate over their transboundary rivers, lakes and aquifers, and also discuss more practical challenges and experiences in the implementation of international water law.

The training will be delivered through three main elements,

i) lectures and Q&A sessions delivered by leading experts in the field to promote “practitioner-to-practitioner” learning

ii) case study presentations from practitioners ‘in the field’; and

iii) simulation exercises facilitated by the aforementioned experts.
