Regional Finance and Administration Specialist - GWPSA

The Specialist will manage the delivery of specialist finance and administrative services for the Africa water investment programme (AIP)N as part of the GWP-SA-Africa coordination unit and ensure credible, efficient and effective programme and regional network management and operations.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • An appropriate university degree or equivalent professional qualification in financial accounting and management, and/or demonstrated significant financial management experience in regional and international institutions in the SADC region. A Master’s degree is an advantage
  • At least ten years’ experience working with international donor funded programmes
  • Computer literacy in financial accounting software and systems (e.g. Dynamic Navision and Pastel) and spreadsheets, and use of internet and online communication tools
  • Excellent knowledge of GWPSA, GWPO, IWMI administrative, operating protocols, policies;
  • Service approach and service management; very good personal organization and priority setting as well as meeting deadlines; excellent skills in leading and managing people and takes accountability
  • Teamwork: maintain a positive, co-operative relationship with Partners, Allies, Donors, auditors, clients and with the members of the different GWPSA governance structures (GWPSA SC, RTEC and Secretariat and CWPs) and have demonstrated a willingness to assist others in time of need
  • Interpersonal skills and communication: the FS requires skills of applying tact and courtesy and must be fluent, succinct and clear in communication – ensuring no misunderstanding
  • Identifies problems and flaws in administrative/technical systems and process in the operations and management of GWP and its host institution, provides/proposes solutions to those problems, and is actively involved in implementing solutions
  • Familiar with the implementation of the GWPSA and Africa wide programmes and multi-stakeholder processes at multi-levels and understands financial dimensions of programmes
  • An understanding of natural resources management and development issues in the region/Africa
  • Ability to work independently and to take direction from other
