During the SADC Summit, Heads of State adopted the theme of "Promoting Infrastructure Development and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development". In response, SADC Secretariat, with support from GWPSA, established a regional network of youth representatives to foster integrated planning and implementation through the Water, Energy, Food (WEF) Nexus. The SADC Water Energ Food Nexus Youth Innovation Network was announced during the 9th SADC Multi-Stakeholder WEF Nexus Dialogue in Johannesburg, with 16 Representatives from each SADC member state.
