Summary:
Dr Bulat Yessekin, Freelance Consultant, Special Advisor to the Minister of Environment Protection of Kazakhstan, has 25 years of professional experience in the field of water management, environmental protection and sustainable development. During the years 1997-2000, Dr Yessekin was UNFCCC national focal point of Kazakhstan. Since 1998 he has been a member of the UNECE Bureau of the Committee on Environmental Policy, and in the year 2000 he also joined the Asia Pacific Forum on Environment and Sustainable Development. Dr Yessekin has been a member of GWP for the last 13 years and, since 2007, part of GWP regional committee Central Asia and Caucasus. Between 2000 and 2007 he held the position of Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia, Caucasus and Russia. From 2007 until 2012, Dr Yessekin worked as a consultant for the government of Kazakhstan on green economy initiatives. Currently he is the key expert of the EU project “Water, climate change and environmental cooperation between Central Asia and the EU”.
