The Chinese delegation of Dayu Irrigation Group Co., Ltd. Visited Uzbekistan

On September 10, 2024, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Water Resources with a delegation from Dayu Irrigation Group Co., Ltd., based in the People's Republic of China. This meeting was facilitated by the IFAS Agency and attended by official representatives from the Ministry of Water Resources, led by Minister Sh. Khamraev, and Ms. Cui Jing, the head of the Dayu Irrigation delegation. The GWP CACENA Technical Committee Chairman, Head of the IFAS Agency Vadim Sokolov, and the coordinator of the National Water Partnership of Uzbekistan Adham Tulaganov took part too.

Dayu Irrigation is recognized as one of the world's leading manufacturers of technologies for smart irrigation. Their innovations support comprehensive management of irrigation water, combat soil salinization, and reduce energy consumption in irrigation systems. A key objective of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030, as approved by Presidential Decree No. UP-5853 on October 23, 2019, is to ensure the rational and efficient use of resources while protecting the environment. This entails reducing water usage per hectare of irrigated land by 20% by 2030.

During the meeting, Ms. Cui Jing, Senior Vice President of Dayu Irrigation, expressed the company’s commitment to providing comprehensive support in achieving this goal. Dayu Irrigation is also interested in piloting public-private partnership projects in irrigation to enhance land and water use efficiency and attract private investment in the irrigation sector through advanced water management practices.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Dayu Irrigation Group Co., Ltd. This document formalizes partnership and cooperation on integrated water resource management policies, rational resource usage, environmental protection, and innovative technologies between the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Dayu Irrigation Group Co., Ltd.  The Memorandum of Cooperation aims to continuously elevate Uzbekistan's technological and industrial capabilities in water resource management, promoting efficient and water-saving irrigation, reclaiming saline lands, and conserving energy in irrigation practices.

Additionally, Dayu Irrigation Group Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Research Institute of Irrigation and Water Problems under the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This memorandum outlines joint research initiatives and encourages collaboration between researchers from both countries. It includes the development of project proposals supported by the governments of China and Uzbekistan, public and private funding, and international organizations. Moreover, it aims to organize scientific seminars and international conferences on water-saving irrigation and to provide training and capacity-building for agricultural specialists in Uzbekistan.
