To this effect, GWP-CAf held meetings with the focal point and some members of task force for SDG 6 .5.1 in Cameroon, Republic of Congo,Gabon, Central Africa Republic, and Sao Tome and Principe during which the process and key deliverables of the SDG 6.5.1 monitoring process were discussed to ensure common understanding by the teams.
Key constraints of the process as well as restrictions due to Covid-19 pandemic were also discussed and measures put in place to address these concerns to ensure timely delivery of the national reports.
Subsequently, GWP Congo facilitated the second SDG 6.5.1 task force meeting for the Republic of Congo, while GWP-Cmr supported the focal point in hosting the first task force meeting for the country to brainstorm and agree on the strategy to be adopted in responding to the SDG 6.5.1 questionnaire.
During the meeting, it was decided that the task force be divided into groups to respond to different sections of the questionnaire so that the process is faster in order for the country to meet up with the deadline.
So far, all six countries(Chad, Cameroon, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Central Africa Republic, and Sao Tome and Principe) within the GWP-CAf network are on track to hosting consultation meetings in July with multi-stakeholders to validate the national SDG 6.5.1 reports, and meet the 31st July deadline for submission of reports to UNEP.
