CONTEXT
For GWP, Youth engagement is one of its strategic crosscutting issues, it elaborated its commitment to include the voices of young people through their Regional and Country Water Partnerships, to coordinate communications and capacity-building activities that target young people as agents of change, and to develop strategies to enhance youth engagement and involvement across the water sector. It is timely for young people to play a more important role in achieving universal access and sustainable use and governance of water resources.
1. Overall objective
The main objective of this training is to support the engagement of civil society representatives and youths from Central Africa and mobilize them for action towards better water governance by training them on IWRM through the GWP Toolbox : IWRM action hub.
2. Qualification and competence of the Expert
The ideal candidate to conduct this work should be from one of the GWP CAf member countries and demonstrate the following professional expertise and abilities:
- Have a minimum of a Master’s (5-years degree) in communication, social sciences, water management, or any other course relevant to the mission ;
- Have proven skills in the field of communication: with proven experience in conducting workshops (face to face and online) on water resources management, IWRM with a strong focus on youth;
- Have at least five years of experience in organizing workshops in the countries targeted by the training with NGOs in general and youth organizations in Central Africa in particular
- Have a minimum of three years of experience working and/or collaborating with international organizations, and NGOs in the Central Africa region;
- Have knowledge of the culture, sociology, and problems and challenges of water resources management in Central Africa;
- Knowledge of the water and sanitation sector in Central Africa (knowledge of the resource, normative framework, institutional framework, economic framework) is an advantage;
- Knowledge of digital platforms gathering experts around a specific training or expertise field is an advantage ;
- A gender-sensitive strategy in the organization of the skills and roles of the members of the team for the realization of the mission is also an asset.
- Good command of the French and English languages (a mastery of one language and a good working knowledge of the other).
