Shenzhen is one of the first cities to promote the river chief system, implementing the ecological civilization construction. In order to exchange the experience and achievements, Shenzhen initiates the Forum of Volunteer Service and Public Participation in River Basin Management on World Environment Day, 5 June 2018.
It is the biggest forum regarding volunteer service and river chiefs beyond the regional level. The participants are from 11 cities, including Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Foshan and etc.
Prof. Wang Hao, who is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the honorary director of department of water resources and director of the state key laboratory of simulation and regulation of water cycle in river basin, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), will address a keynote speech on ecological civilization construction, river chief system and volunteer services.
Prof. Asit K Biswas, who is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading authorities on water and environmental management, co-founder of the Third World Centre for Water Management in Mexico, a founder of the International Water Resources Association and World Water Council and the winner of the Stockholm Water Prize 2006, will share the trends and experience on global water protection and urban environmental protection.
The participants also come from different sectors, including NGOs, enterprises, colleges, institutes, foundation and media. Such as GWP China, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Shenzhen Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, The Paradise Foundation, Shenzhen Blue Ocean Conservation Association, China Environment Newspaper and etc.
The forum is organized by Urban Youth Association of Shenzhen, Shenzhen Volunteer Foundation and jointly organized by GWP China.
