It invited stakeholders from the department of national science and technology of the Ministry of water resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), State Key Laboratory for basin water cycle simulation and regulation and Key Laboratory for groundwater protection of the Ministry of water resources in IWHR.
Five experts were invited to make keynote reports on the research progress and future strategies related to groundwater overexploitation control in North China. Li Wenpeng, former vice president of the geological environment monitoring Institute of the China Geological Survey, made a report entitled "current situation and Countermeasures of groundwater overexploitation and land subsidence in the North China Plain", Wan Li, vice president of the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), made a report entitled "groundwater circulation model in North China", and Zhang Guanghui, deputy chief engineer of the Institute of hydrogeology and environmental geology of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, made a report entitled "main causes and rational treatment of groundwater overexploitation in North China", Li Yuanyuan, vice president of the General Institute of water resources and hydropower planning and design of the Ministry of water resources, made a report entitled "ideas and progress of comprehensive treatment of groundwater overexploitation in North China", and Zhao Yong, deputy director of the Chinese Academy of water sciences, made a report entitled "treatment objectives and realization paths of groundwater overexploitation in North China". Cuizhiqing, deputy director of Hebei Provincial Department of water resources, Li Yu, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of water affairs, and Yang jiantu, a second-class inspector of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of water affairs, respectively made a report on the practice of groundwater overexploitation treatment in Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, introducing the progress of groundwater overexploitation treatment and related research needs. Experts and representatives of relevant departments, bureaus and units of the Ministry of water resources were specially invited to carry out in-depth exchanges and discussions on the treatment of groundwater overexploitation in the North China Plain.
Chief engineer Zhong Zhiyu pointed out in his concluding speech that the Party group of the CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Ministry of water resources has always attached great importance to groundwater management and protection. Minister Li Guoying proposed at the 2022 national water conservancy work conference to strengthen the treatment of groundwater overexploitation and strengthen basic research in the field of groundwater. He stressed that in recent years, the comprehensive treatment of groundwater overexploitation in North China has achieved remarkable results, but it still needs the continuous and in-depth support of scientific and technological innovation, especially in the six aspects of basic research in the field of groundwater, groundwater dynamic control standards, accurate measurement of groundwater exploitation, refined simulation and evaluation of groundwater resources, groundwater prediction and early warning, and long-term mechanism of groundwater governance. He hoped that through today's meeting, he could summarize experience and clarify problems, Through the efforts and cooperation of all parties, we will jointly promote the groundwater in North China to recover to a healthy state as soon as possible, which has become the highlight of China's ecological civilization construction.
On behalf of the organizer of the conference, Wang Jianhua expressed heartfelt thanks to all leaders and experts for their long-term guidance and support. He said that with a high sense of responsibility and mission, the Chinese Academy of water sciences will earnestly implement the requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of water resources and spare no effort to do a good job in the scientific and technological support work related to the treatment of groundwater overexploitation in North China.
