Workshop of Building Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Plastic Control & Monitoring in the Yangtze River invited over twenty specialists from mandated institutions, RCS offices, scientific research institutes, universities and enterprises.
After the opening addresses, the activity shared participants MSP project introduction, key speeches, focusing on "Role of rivers in transporting land-based plastic waste to ocean",“Research progress and prospect of microplastic pollution in the Yangtze River Basin" and "Comprehensive management of river basins on basis of river and lake chief system" , as well as and panel discussions.
Before wrap-up, experts exchanged their standpoints. Their discussions covered potential and practical experience of the river chief system in the pollution control work of the river basin; recycling and utilization of plastics; and degradable plastics process. It was considered that the joint environmental pollution prevention and control mechanism based on the river and lake chief system has unique advantages in promoting the prevention and control of plastic pollution in the Yangtze River Basin.
