May 10, 2024, the founding ceremony was moderated by Jia Yangwen, regional coordinator of GWP China. He shared with participants the proposal of setting up 'Professional Committee of River Basin Carbon Neutrality of GWP China' initiated by Beijing Normal University. On behalf of GWP China regional management team, Mdm. Xia Xinghui, professor of Beijing Normal University, was invited to be the chair of the Professional Committee of River Basin Carbon Neutrality of GWP China.
Prof. Xia introduced the committee status, and Mr. Yin Xin'an, professor of Beijing Normal University, reviewed the Management Regulations of Professional Committee of River Basin Carbon Neutrality of GWP China.
Prof. Jia Yangwen presided over the election work of this organization and roles of the committee, including
-Prof Xia Xinghui as chair;
-with Zhang Xiaoxiao, Wang Chao, Liu Yanli, Yang Wenjun, Jiang Enhui, Yang Fang, Su Meirong, and Huang Yuefei as vice chairs;
-Prof Yin Xin'an as the secretary-general, and Li Yang, Zhang Qing, and Tan Qiaofeng as deputy secretary-general.
Afterwards, Prof. Xia Xinghui delivered a speech, warmly welcoming and sincerely thanking all members for coming to Beijing and working together to promote the development of the Committee.
Following the ceremony, from May 11 to12, 2024, the Committee and GWP China hosted the 1st Watershed Carbon Neutrality Conference. It was jointly convened by Guangdong University of Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Water Environment Simulation and the Key Laboratory of Water and Sediment Sciences of the Ministry of Education.
