The Beijing Offices of international organizations whose host institute is China Water Resources and Hydropower Research Institute (IWHR) were gathered on March 19, 2014 to exchange experiences and practices under the themes of development and outcomes, challenges, development strategies and demand on the host institute.
At the invitation of Mr. Wouter Arriens, GWP TEC Member and Senior Advisor of the Asia-Pacific Center of Water Security (APCWS), Mr. Zheng Rugang and Ms. Ma Yilin visited APCWS in Tsinghua University on May 28, 2014.
IUCN China Office launched a new pilot project on protecting drinking water source with Danone Ecosystem Fund and Danone Waters China on January 20, 2014 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The Launch event was sponsored by IUCN, International Forestry Cooperation Center of State Forestry Administration, Guangdong Provincial Forestry Department, and Danone Waters China, and co-supported by South China Agriculture University and Guangdong Provincial Academy of Forestry.
The Workshop was held in chenzhou, Hunan Province on January 17, 2014. Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China was invited to the workshop. Before the workshop, the report on the work in 2013 completed by GWP China Hunan was made by Mr.Liu Siyuan, Vice Chair of GWP China Hunan.
Groundwater is a critical source of fresh drinking water for the citizens and also supplies irrigated agriculture in Shaanxi Province. Groundwater is also important in sustaining streams, lakes, wetlands, and associated ecosystems. In the meantime , effects of climate change on groundwater resources are closely linked to other global change drivers, including population growth, urbanization and land-use change, coupled with other socio-economic and political trends.
The International Conference on Simulation and Regulation of Water Cycle in River Basin was jointly held by GWP China, Chinese Academy of Engineering, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Zhejiang University and State Key Laboratory of Basin Water Cycle Simulation and Regulation, on December 9 to 12, 2013 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The Workshop on Climate Change, Flood Control and Optimized Use of Rain Water, for this purpose, was organized by GWP China Hebei in cooperation with Hebei Provincial Hydraulic Engineering Society on November 26 and 27, 2013 in Baoding City, Hebei Province.
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) launched its new project “Mega-cities and their Watersheds: Nature-based Solutions for Sustainable Drinking Water Sources” on November 26, 2013 in Beijing.
GWP China Yellow River, jointly with Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research and Yellow River Research Society, invited stakeholders from governmental organizations and NGOs as well as related experts and practitioners to discuss how to make better practice of integrated river basin management of the Yellow River under the new policies on November 20 and 21, 2013 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.
