In Tuesday morning, May 18, 2010, Dr. Dong Zheren, Standing vice Chair of GWP China, made a welcome speech to all participants at the opening ceremony. After the welcome speech, Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China, presented a work report “The Decade of GWP China” to review the outcomes of GWP China in past ten years since its establishment and the challenges and outlook in the future.
In the evening of the day, a reception was held by GWP in Holiday Inn Beijing Hotel on the occasion of the opening of GWP SC Meeting and the 10th Anniversary of GWP China. Over 40 people were invited to the reception including the SC Meeting participants, the working staff of Secretariat of GWP China, those who made special contributions to GWP China as well as the representatives from international organizations in China. In their speeches, Dr. Obeng, GWP Chair, and Dr. Ania, the ES. congratulated the 10th Anniversary of GWP China and expressed their good wishes to GWP China .
A technical study tour was organized on May 21 with joint efforts by GWP China and Beijing Water Affairs Bureau. With company of Dr. Dong Zheren, Standing vice Chair of GWP China, Mr. Liao Pingan, Deputy Division Chief of Beijing Water Affairs Bureau and other staff of GWP China Secretariat, the Steering Committee members visited Xiangtan River Basin, Qinghe Recycled Water Plant, Olympic Green Park and the wetland system for better knowledge of aquatic ecological system of Beijing City.
