Participating in Sino-Swiss Cooperation Dialogue

The Sino-Swiss Cooperation Dialogue was taken place in the office building of the Ministry of Water Resources on October 19, 2010.

The Chinese party to this meeting was led by Mr. Liu Zhiguang, Deputy Director General of Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology, Ministry of Water Resources, with the company, among other officials, of Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China and Ms. Ma Yilin, Programme Officer of GWP China .The counterpart of Switzerland was chaired by Mr. Walter Meyer, Counselor of the Embassy of Switzer land to China.

Mr. Liu after mentioning a number of points introduced to the Swiss counterparts about the cooperation relationship between the Ministry of Water Resources and GWP China. By stressing the full support by the Ministry of Water Resources to GWP China in the future, Mr. Liu also encouraged to diversify the cooperation mode between GWP China and Swiss organizations for the further water development of the two countries.

On behalf of GWP China, Mr. Zheng expressed gratitude to the SDC for their co-sponsoring the “High-Level Roundtable Meeting of Global Climate Change and Water Security in China” in Beijing on April, 2010. Mr. Zheng also elaborated the activities and work plan of 2011 and suggested to continue the cooperation between the two sides in coming years on different areas such as water resources management, climate change adaptation and wet land protection etc.. Mr. Meyer shared the ideas of further developing cooperation with GWP China. The details of cooperation areas and mode will be discussed later.
