After the addresses of Mr. Chen Lei, Minister of Water Resources and Mr. Guo Genmao, Governor of Henan Province during the opening ceremony, the delegates developed and participated 10 sessions and 15 sub-forums organized by different organizations around forum theme, related subjects and common concerns about management of Yellow River and some rivers in other countries. The forum issued declaration of developing river ethics.
The Fourth Yellow River International Forum
As one of sponsors of this forum, GWP participated in all related activities. The honored delegates included Mrs. Ania Grobicki, EC of GWPO, who was recognized as VIP to chair panel meetings; Mr. Khalid Mohtadullah, Senior Advisor of GWPO and Mr. Bjorn Guterstam, Network Officer of GWPO; Mr. Dong Zheren, Standing Vice Chair of GWP China, Mr. Wang Hao, Vice Chair and Mr. Zheng Rugang, EC of GWP China.
As one of distinguished guests, Mrs. Ania Grobicki was invited by Minister Chen Lei, preceding the Yellow River Forum, to gather with others from Singapore, Australia, Holland, Romania, France, European Commission, WWF and other organizations on October 19, 2009. During the meeting, Mrs. Ania Grobicki briefed information about operation between GWP and water sectors in China and then delivered expectation of strengthening communication between two parties.
Mr. Dong Zheren, Standing Vice Chair of GWP China met with Mrs. Ania Grobicki to exchange views on further development of GWP China on October 21, 2009.
GWP China Yellow River hosted a session “Water Operation and Allocation in Yellow River Basin” on October 21, 2009. The session invited Mr. Yang Zhenhuai, former Minister of Water Resources, Mr. Liu Changming, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Mr. Cheng Zhikai, Mr. Cao Chusheng and Mr. Mozhi who are the Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The meeting discussed sustainable development of water resources, flood control safety on downstream, and health of Yellow River and contributed solutions against problems of water operation and sediments allocation of Yellow River.
Sub-forum of Yellow River Forum hosted by GWP China YR
This is the fourth term since the founding of the Yellow River Forum in 2003. All forum themes have been carried out around river management and common concerns on water. This forum is beneficial for all managers, decision makers and the public since it plays the role as a platform for all related experts and professionals to communicate, exchange research achievements and learn experiences from each other.
