The Workshop on Global Climate Change and Water Resources Management in China

The Workshop on Global Climate Change and Water Resources Management in China was held on 13-17 May, in Changsha, Hunan Province.

The Workshop on Global Climate Change and Water Resources Management in China was co-sponsored by TNC and was opened by Vice Minister Hu Siyi, Ministry of Water Resources and Vice Governor Xu Minghua of Hunan Province. This half-day event set the scene of climate change impact on China with capacity building lectures from agencies and scientists. The workshop ended without any discussion and it left an impression of many uncertainties about impact, e.g. more or less rain in northern China, while the frequency of extreme weather situations is clearly increasing with floods and droughts. With this workshop GWP China has pro-actively involved itself among “climate and water actors” of the country.

Hunan Provincial Water Resources Department invited the participants for a two-day excursion to the countryside and home of the Autonomous County of Minority People Miao and Tujia (Feng Huang or Phoenix City).
