More flood disasters attacked some main rivers in Hebei Province in the flood season of 2012. GWP China Hebei managed to facilitate related governmental organizations to improve skills of ensuring water security in flood season and optimize measures of using rain water to mitigate risks of rain and flood under the climate change in the province. The Workshop on Climate Change, Flood Control and Optimized Use of Rain Water, for this purpose, was organized by GWP China Hebei in cooperation with Hebei Provincial Hydraulic Engineering Society on November 26 and 27, 2013 in Baoding City, Hebei Province.
The invited experts introduced their research results related to "Strategies of Flood Risks Control and Optimized Use of Rain Water", " Measures for Meteorological Disasters" and etc. After the presentations, the participants exchanged their experiences and lessons around the theme of the workshop. The organizers summarized feedback of representatives and drafted a proposal to submit to the related governmental departments for their consideration when developing the policies of Hebei Province after the workshop. The meeting output was appreciated by the related governmental organizations for the reason that it contributed to the strategies of better climate resilience, water security and more effective use of rain water.
