Associate Professor at the University of Botswana, Prof. Piet Kenabatho, is an environmental scientist with more than 18 years of professional experience in applied hydrology, groundwater modelling, water resources development for sustainable environmental management, IWRM, and climate change adaptation, resilience and mitigation strategies. He holds a PhD in Hydrology and Water Resources from Imperial College London, UK, and is a member of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), American Geophysical Union (AGU), and AU/NEPAD Southern African Water Centres of Excellence (SANWATCE).
As the founding Chair of Global Water Partnership-Botswana in 2004, he oversaw formulation and supervision of Botswana’s Integrated Water Resources Management and Water Efficiency (IWRM/WE) Plan and led the accreditation process for the Country Water Partnership. In May 2017, he was awarded the Minister's Special Award in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the water sector in Botswana and support to the Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services in Botswana. Prof Kenabatho is well published and has authored more than 20 publications in hydrology, climate, IWRM, groundwater and Transboundary water and other water-related topics.
