Adolphine Kateka is an economist, with a long career in environmental studies and climate change. She has a PhD in natural resources economics from Stockholm University; an MBA (international economics) from Stockholm School of Business Studies; and a degree in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam. She has extensively worked in the field of climate finance both at country and international levels.

She has served as one of the advisors on the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on the accreditation committee. She is currently a consultant with the Tanzania Water Partnership; a senior lecturer/research Fellow with the University of Dar es Salaam, Department of Agricultural economics and climate change. Prior to her appointment at the University of Dar es Salaam, she was a researcher at the Stockholm Climate Change Resilience Center. She left to join the University of Dar es Salaam to establish the first and only Climate Change and Sustainable Development Center in the country where she has been teaching economics of climate Change and finance; and project proposal writing among others.

She has served as a diplomat at various Tanzania missions abroad and as an international civil servant with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Colombo Sri Lanka. She is siting on the board of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA); she serves on the board of the Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) Tanzania.

Her areas of expertise are climate change economics and adaptation; natural resources management; poverty research; and project proposal writing. She has published a book, book chapters, peer reviewed articles and reports on these topics. In her role as GWPSA’s Climate finance Expert, Adolphine provides expertise in mobilizing climate finance and preparing funding proposals for the Green Climate Fund, Global Environmental facility and others.
