Dr. Mkhuzo Chongo is the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP) Manager for Zambia and Interim Executive Secretary for the Zambia Water Partnership (ZWP). He has a PhD in Hydrogeophysics (Water Resources Engineering) from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and also has a Master of Science Degree in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and a Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering Degree from the University of Zambia (UNZA).
With over 14 years of experience in Water Resources Management and Development, Dr. Chongo’s key competence areas include project management, geoscientific data analysis and processing, groundwater exploration and mapping, geographic information systems (QGIS & ARC GIS), water resources modelling, and environmental economic accounting for water. His other competence areas are transboundary water security (including aspects of international water law, transboundary water governance & cooperation and water diplomacy), FIDIC Contracts, Negotiation Skills, and Scientific Writing. In addition, Dr. Chongo is a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
Having worked at various levels of governance from the sub-national to the transboundary, Dr. Chongo has a holistic and comprehensive perspective on the approaches, partnerships and key actions required to ensure effective and inclusive water resources management and development initiatives, which also incorporate cross cutting issues such as climate change and gender.
