I. Organization Name

The Professional Committee of Watershed Carbon Neutrality of the Global Water Partnership China (hereinafter referred to as the "Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee").

II. Attribute and Qualitative Description

The Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee is a branch of the China Water Resources Strategy Research Association, serving as a high-end think tank and exchange cooperation platform in the field of carbon neutrality.

IV. Establishment Time

The Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee was established on May 11, 2024.

V. Historical Introduction

On May 10, 2024, the Preparatory Meeting for the Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee was convened in Beijing. The working regulations of the committee were deliberated and adopted, and the Director, Deputy Directors, and Secretary-General were elected.
On May 11, 2024, the Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee was officially inaugurated in Beijing.

VII. Tasks and Responsibilities

The Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee aims to promote the sustainable use of water resources, synergistic effects of pollution reduction and carbon emission reduction, implement the goals and tasks of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, promote academic research and technical exchanges, and improve the level of domestic and international academic exchanges through its activities.
Academic Exchanges and Disciplinary Research
Organize experts and scholars in related fields at home and abroad to carry out academic exchanges on major theoretical and practical issues of watershed carbon neutrality, material circulation, and carbon emission reduction and pollution reduction, activate academic thinking, and promote the development of multiple disciplines.
Decision-Making Consultation
Organize experts and scholars in related fields to put forward policy suggestions, providing a scientific basis for decision-making by government departments at all levels and industry departments in carbon neutrality research and construction work.
Education and Training
Popularize scientific knowledge of carbon neutrality, carbon emission reduction, and pollution reduction, spread scientific ideas and methods of watershed carbon neutrality, material circulation, and sustainable resource utilization, promote advanced technologies, and carry out educational activities on water resources science and carbon emission reduction and pollution reduction knowledge for the public, especially adolescents.
Subject Research and Technical Consultation Services
Organize and undertake national and regional subjects related to watershed material circulation and carbon emission reduction and pollution reduction, carry out scientific and technological development and technology transfer research, and at the same time play a consulting role in the development, utilization, and management of national and regional water and soil resources and carbon neutrality issues, and actively put forward rationalization suggestions.
Scientific Communication
Organize and hold academic forums, lectures, and seminars on watershed carbon neutrality, material circulation, and carbon emission reduction and pollution reduction, and introduce relevant research achievements and developments at home and abroad. Strengthen friendly exchanges with academic groups and professionals in the field of material circulation and carbon emission reduction and pollution reduction in foreign countries (or regions), carry out international (or regional) academic exchanges and cooperation, and promote scientific research and communication.

Adhering to the systematic concept and watershed perspective, the Watershed Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee organizes experts and scholars in related fields at home and abroad to carry out academic research on major theoretical and practical issues, deepens the cooperation model of production, education, research, application, and management, gives play to the power of interdisciplinary and international cooperation, puts forward policy suggestions, provides a scientific basis for low-carbon development decision-making, and makes positive contributions to achieving good water resources management, ecological balance, and carbon neutrality goals.
