Drought Resilience +10 Conference

Integrating knowledge & practice for drought resilience: Following up on the first High-level meeting on National Drought Policies in 2013, the Drought Resilience +10 Conference aims at scaling up and accelerating drought action on the ground. It will bring together countries, experts and practitioners to review progress and lessons learnt in drought management to explore and define a joint way forward towards a more drought resilient world.

📅 30 September-2 October 2024

📍 Geneva, Switzerland & online (online participation is free!)

Goals of the Conference:

  • Reflect on successes and challenges of 10 years of drought risk management since 2013 to learn how to achieve drought resilience in the next decade
  • Consolidate and plan jointly how drought resilience can be brought to scale to respond to the accelerating impacts of climate change in the next decade by applying systems thinking
  • Work with political leaders to strengthen awareness, mobilise resources, prioritise drought and increase commitments to building drought resilience and to implement Integrated Drought Management

9 workstreams:

The Drought Resilience +10 Conference is based on 9 Workstreams, identified and developed through a series of consultations that took place at thematic events. The Workstreams reflect and group important aspects and challenges of drought management.

GWP Co-leads workstream 6, Social inclusion and climate justice, together with IWMI and IOM, and workstream 8, Public-private-civil society partnerships, together with WMO & World Bank.
