The Ministry of Water of Tanzania, the Wami Ruvu Basin Water Board and GWP, on behalf of the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, have been collaborating to understand the economic value of water for Tanzania, and will be presenting the results in a public hybrid format, online and in-person at select sites.

The free launch event of the Valuing Water in Tanzania publication will be held on:

📅 Thursday 31 October

🕙 13.00 to 14.30 CET / 15.00 – 16.30 Tanzania time.

The event will aim to serve the following objectives:

  • Launch the final products on valuing water in Tanzania

  • Present some of the key outcomes to key decision makers in Tanzania and elsewhere

  • Generate an informed debate on the economic and non-economic value of water

Have you ever wondered how much water contributes to the national economy? Using existing methodologies to evaluate the case of Tanzania, specifically focused on three important sectors for Tanzania: agriculture, manufacturing and mining, the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme is supporting the Ministry of Water to make a strong case for why water is undervalued in financial terms in the national budget compared to the significant economic value it brings to the country.
