GWP’s VISION is a water secure world. Our MISSION is to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

OUR UNIQUE VALUE: GWP mobilises action on the global water crisis through a unique combination of social capital, shared values, credibility within the global water community, bottom-up orientation, and expertise. A network of networks, we ensure the ‘voices of water’ can inﬂuence local, national, regional, and global development priorities. We are committed to our role as a neutral convener and respected for our focus on inclusiveness and sustainability.

GWP Regions

This is where you can find links to the websites of our Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs). RWPs are closest to the countries where we work. They share knowledge and learning across national boundaries and are expected to have an open, inclusive, and gender-sensitive policies for bringing together as wide a group of stakeholders as possible to solve water problems.

GWP at Africa Water Week 2012

The theme of the 4th Africa Water Week 14-18 May in Cairo, Egypt, is “Water for Growth in Africa, AMCOW’s Journey @10”. The Global Water Partnership will be launching the AMCOW/GWP Strategic Framework material. GWP will have a booth and is also a convenor and co-convenor of sub-themes and will be participating at the following events:

The AMCOW/GWP Strategic Framework was launched May 14, 2012.

GWP is co-convenor of Sub-theme 2, Infrastructure for Growth and Climate Resiliance – Programme and more information.

GWP is lead convenor of Sub-theme 4, Water Governance and Financing, together with the African Development Bank and the EUWI-Africa Working Group. Programme and more information. As part of this sub-theme 4, GWP is organising a session on “Regional and transboundary water governance”, where the ANBO Secretariat (OMVS) will present the SITWA Project.

Wednesday 16 May
Under Sub-theme 3 “Private Sector Investment in Sanitation and Water”, in a session called “Private Sector Investments: Opportunities and Challenges in Africa” Sarra Touzi, GWP Mediterranean will speak on “Assessing the Conditions for Addressing Private Sector Participation in Water Infrastructure: Examples from the Mediterranean Region”.

Thursday 17 May
Sub-theme 4, EUWI-FWG Chair Alan Hall will speak during the “Financing transboundary and national water resources management” session on the topic “Financing national water resources management”.

EUWI-FWG is organising a session under Sub-theme 1 “Water and Sanitation for Development” on “Sanitation Governance and Financing”.
