The regional organization Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med | www.gwpmed.org) and the Energy and Water Agency of Malta (EWA| www.energywateragency.gov.mt) are issuing a call for proposals for college and university students and newly graduates.
World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. On 8 March 2019: International Women’s Day falls on 8 March with this year’s theme “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change” which focuses on innovative ways in which individuals can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of access to public services, social protection systems and sustainable infrastructure. Transformations, integrated approaches and new solutions are necessary particularly for advancing gender equality and empowering women on the journey to achieve the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In other words, “business as usual” will not be sufficient and should put forward innovative approaches that removes structural barriers and ensures no woman and no girl is left behind.
Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe (GWP CEE) and Drought Management Centre for Southeastern Europe (DMCSEE) invite young researchers to present their work on drought during the poster session at the Danube Drought Conference on 7-8 May in Vienna, Austria.
GWP-Med facilitating dialogue with youth on Nexus approach toward achieving SDG Goals and their role at the first African Young Water Professional Forum
GWP promotes youth inclusion in water resources management. One of those ways is through a robust internship programme. Civil Engineer Axel Martinez, 26, from Nicaragua, spent five months with GWP Central America as a Young Professional Development Initiative Intern under GWP’s Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP). He says the experience has helped him to grow professionally.
The winners of the Youth for Water and Climate #YWC call for youth-led projects (Be Bold. Be Creative. Get Support.) were announced at the GWP COP24 booth on Thursday 6 December together with GWP partner the International Secretariat for Water (ISW), and with youth from Central and Eastern Europe in the audience.
Young Water Professionals from 11 countries of Central and Eastern Europe gathered at COP24 to advocate for youth engagement in decision-making processes.
GWP Central America holds a photography contest every year to engage partners, youth and other actors around water issues. The winner of the contest this year is Francisco Gil from Panama, who says that “youth is the main pillar for the conservation of our water resources”. The photograph was taken in Chiguiri Arriba in the province of Coclé.
