Mina Guli is CEO of Thirst and a member of the GWP Steering Committee. In November she will embark on a mission to complete 100 marathons in 100 days – with the single goal of raising awareness around the global water crisis. On May 10-11 over 80 experts and stakeholders gathered in Malta from across the Mediterranean and beyond to discuss water challenges faced in the region and suggest Non Conventional Water Resources (NCWR) solutions for a water-secure future, including employment opportunities.
A set of structured and operational meetings took place on 3-4 May 2018, in Brussels, in the premises of the European Commission, with the aim to progress on the work of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Agenda and its Financial Strategy.
Aiming to make the youth’s voice heard in view of integrated water resources management, climate change adaptation and sustainable development, GWP-Med facilitates a youth dialogue entitled “Tunisia Youth mobilized for water and climate”. The dialogue started with a first workshop on 26th December 2017 and is continuing with a second workshop on the 25th May 2018, Tunis, Tunisia.
Aiming to foster youth involvement in the water and climate action in Mauritania, GWP-Med is organizing in collaboration with the Mauritanian NGO “AISER, Citoyenneté et Droits Humains” a training cycle composed of a series of three workshops targeting youth active in local NGOs. The workshops will be organized in the framework of the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) implemented in Mauritania by GWP-Med. At the end of the training workshops, participants’ capacities are expected to be enhanced in relation to climate change risks evaluation, adaptation actions identification and projects proposals formulation and funds leverage.
On 26 April 2018, a successful meeting was held in Nouakchott in Mauritania between GWP-Med, the National Center for Water Resources in Mauritania (CNRE) and the Regional Centre of Agro-Hydro-Meteorology (AGRHYMET) leading to collaboration agreement on concrete steps to support CNRE on water resources monitoring and evaluation as well as hydro-climate services delivery.
