Over the years, GWP Romania and GWP Ukraine have stepped in to facilitate communication between government and non-government actors on water, health and the environment. This has helped shape ways and tools to translate the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Water and Health Protocol Initiative into action.

In 2006-2007 the GWP Country Water Partnerships of twelve countries in Central and Eastern Europe organised national IWRM dialogues.

GWP Estonia participated in a roundtable discussion at the Ministry of Environment about damming and on April 17 hydropower use of Estonian rivers.

The Global Water Partnership Executive Secretary Dr Ania Grobicki and the GWP Central and Eastern Europe Chair Dr. Liviu Nicolae Popescu will participate in the European event “Aquawareness Policy Forum” on World Water Day 22 March in Brussels, Belgium.

International organization Humanitas organized a conference "Water as a Global Challenge" on March 18 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
