The formulation of Zimbabwe’s National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) process that began in 2012 finally came to an end on 15^th July, 2014 at a multi stakeholder meeting that brought together 62 participants from different Ministries, partner organisations and other relevant departments. A key milestone of this meeting was the adoption of the NCCRS by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate.

The “Financing of sustainable water resources management and development: economics, financing opportunities and project preparation” is the focus of high-level regional training and knowledge exchange in Pretoria, South Africa from the 21st -24th July 2014. 27 Delegates from African countries and River Basin Organisations working in the water sector are meeting to increase their knowledge and skills, to attract investors and financial development partners for both water governance and water infrastructure development.

WACDEP Zimbabwe and GWP SA in their efforts to assist the Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate to enhance project preparation and financing for climate resilience and water security projects is looking for a National Consultant to support Water security and climate resilience Project Preparation and Financing in Zimbabwe.

The  Minister of Water and Sanitation, the Hon Nomvula Mokonyane,  has confirmed her wholehearted and enthusiastic support for the conference by endorsing the dates  3 – 7  November 2014,  and we urge all delegates and prospective delegates in turn to confirm their attendance and participation at the conference to the Secretariat.

The 2014 GWP Regional Days and Consulting Partners were held in Port of Spain, Trinidad, from 23 to 28 June 2014. The theme of this year's meeting was: “The GWP Strategy Towards 2020: Addressing Thematic Issues”.

A five day regional Training of Trainers workshop with the objective to “developing the capacity of stakeholders to better appreciate the impacts of climate change on water resources, and the ability to use the IWRM approach as a tool for climate change adaptation” was organized in Kinshasa from 12^th -16^th May 2014.

As a way of supporting the CGIAR Challenge Programme for Water and Food (CPWF, 2009-2013), approach in the Limpopo River basin, GWP SA is undertaking work for the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) to specifically package and disseminate the small scale infrastructure work package, a CPWF Research package that was undertaken on the Limpopo River Basin between 2009 -2013. The assignment with the ARC began in May 2014 and will be implemented until the end of 2014.

The International WaterCentre (IWC), in collaboration with GWP, is currently offering full scholarships (tuition fees and living expenses) for two high calibre candidates from developing countries to study the Master of Integrated Water Management programme (MIWM) in Australia next year. Read more
