The new GWP website was launched on 22 March. The new features at the launch were much-improved search functions for news, events, and knowledge. Now we are pleased to introduce one more search function – one of the most asked-for features: a new and improved GWP Partner Search.
Staff from GWP’s 13 regions met for Regional Days in Stockholm, Sweden, on 9-12 May. The annual event is an opportunity to take stock of current and on-going matters in the network, and to plan for the year ahead. Coinciding with this, GWP’s Network Meeting was held, and broadcast live on Facebook.
The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 12 May 2017 at 13.00 Central European Summer Time. It takes place on the last day of GWP’s annual Regional Days and will be broadcast live on GWP's Facebook page.
The GWP in Action 2016 Annual Report is now available online. It highlights many of the network’s activities achieved through 13 Regional Water Partnerships, 86 Country Water Partnerships, 3,427 Partners located in 183 countries, and generous donor agencies.
GWP Chair Oyun Sanjaasuren and GWP Technical Committee Chair Jerome Delli Priscoli participated in a UN General Assembly Water Dialogue and a Special Event on World Water Day, 22 March, in New York. Experts discussed how to improve integration and coordination of the UN's work on the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Global Technical Committee (TEC) members mingled with the regional TEC and some partners of GWP West Africa on 10th to 12th April 2017 in Accra, Ghana. The occasion was a training on Collaborative modelling for decision support in Integrated Water Resources Management.
This year celebrating the World Water Day in CACENA region has started before its date. Many events were held by GWP CACENA partners to raise awareness on water related problems.
On 09 March 2017, the Executive Secretary of the Sahara and Sahel Observatory(OSS), Mr. Khatim Kherraz and the Ugandan Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Matia Kassaija signed in Kampala, Uganda and Agreement for the implementation of the project called “Enhancing resilience of communities to climate change through catchment based integrated management of water and related resources in Uganda” (EURECCCA).
