GWP’s VISION is a water secure world. Our MISSION is to advance governance and management of water resources for sustainable and equitable development.

A network of networks, we ensure the ‘voices of water’ can inﬂuence local, national, regional, and global development priorities. GWP Regions

This is where you can find links to the websites of our Regional Water Partnerships (RWPs). RWPs are closest to the countries where we work. They share knowledge and learning across national boundaries and are expected to have an open, inclusive, and gender-sensitive policies for bringing together as wide a group of stakeholders as possible to solve water problems.

GWP Brings Gender into Focus with New Strategy

The new GWP Gender Strategy was formally launched at a well-attended event at Stockholm World Water Week 2014 on 3 September. On the same day GWP added to its strategic allies by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the French Water Partnership, the European Water Partnership and UNESCO-IHE.

Introducing the new Gender Strategy, GWP Chair Dr. Ursula Schaefer-Preuss said that the work behind it has been a personal priority. She thanked GWP Steering Committee member Alice Bouman Dentener for her significant contributions to realizing this strategy.

Dr. Brian McIntosh, Senior Lecturer and Education Program Manager at the International WaterCentre (IWC) in Australia, supported the launch by highlighting the joint GWP-IWC scholarship initiative to promote women leadership in water management. This is one example of the concrete work GWP intends to pursue in order to support women leaders and have an impact in women’s lives on the ground.

New Allies

In addition to GWP’s network of over 3,000 partner organisations, GWP also reaches out to a wide range of stakeholders in different sectors. The newest strategic allies of GWP are the French Water Partnership, the European Water Partnership and the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education.

The new collaboration agreements will benefit all partners in helping to share knowledge on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), advocacy, capacity building, education and research.
